Today in ELA, we read one of my FAVORITE picture books, The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt. This picture book is written in the point of view of a boy's crayons, and their thoughts on how they are being used. The kids really enjoyed this story, and were really able to grasp the idea of Point of View and how it can change the experience for the reader. We then practiced writing our own stories from a unique point of view- Thanksgiving day through the eyes of the turkey. I saw some very creative stories as I walked around and checked in! Very impressed with their creativity, focus, and writing stamina for this assignment.
